Nathan Hagihara is a student, educator, coach, mentor, blogger, musician, and artist. Having received numerous accolades and recognition for his work in various artistic and educational contexts, Nathan is well-known for his varied skill set and his passion for excellence in everything he does.
Nathan is a fourth-year student at California State University, Fullerton, where he is studying Child & Adolescent Development, with a concentration in Adolescent & Youth Contexts, as well as a Digital Media Communications Certificate. Hagihara is on-track to graduate in Spring 2022 with his Bachelor of Science, following his late switch into CHAD from his original major of History. In addition to his main degree program at CSU Fullerton, Nathan is also pursuing a Certificate in Christian Apologetics from Biola University's Talbot School of Theology.
Hagihara graduated in 2017 from Trabuco Hills High School, in Mission Viejo, California - a suburban city approximately one hour south of Los Angeles. During his time as a student at Trabuco Hills, Nathan's strong work ethic and morals were shown as he was awarded numerous awards, including a Track & Field Coach's Award (2014), Character Award (2015), Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor (2016), Golden State Seal of Merit (2017), International Baccalaureate Diploma (2017), and the Track & Field inaugural Spirit of Excellence Award (2017).
Shortly after graduating, Hagihara was hired to work as a Graduate Assistant to the Mustangs' track and field program, a position he was excited to fill. During his first season on staff, Nathan developed a student development program to serve the freshman students, focusing on goal-setting skills, athletic development principles, academic improvement, and more. That year, Trabuco's Track & Field student retention for freshmen and sophomores jumped from approximately 65% to 90%. Now entering his fourth season, Nathan serves as the Executive Director of Communications and Student Wellness/Development. In this role, Nathan is charged with creating social media content, overseeing all program communications and social media platforms, managing program administrative functions, student and community health standards, emergency services, and student development programming.
Hagihara is currently working to launch a website and non-profit, aimed at serving the communities of South Orange County, while also providing a space to show the love of God to non-believers.
When he isn't working on schoolwork or projects for work, Nathan is often blogging, playing music, or practicing art. Nathan is working to relaunch his popular blog pages, with emphases in travel (a rare luxury in the era of COVID-19) and another one with resources and thoughts aimed around student success. Hagihara also enjoys playing guitar (a skill he taught himself, so he is admittedly pretty bad at it), as well as drawing the only things he knows how to - Disney characters.
Nathan continues to reside in South Orange County with his loving mother, father, sister, and dog. If he isn't working on a project, you'll likely find him driving around Orange County and visiting his favorite places in the Southland - meaning he's most likely at Disneyland.
